CSR Increasingly business decisions are driven by agendas outside of traditional profit and financial accounting. Reputational risk and other social and environmental concerns cannot be accounted for using conventional capitalist and economic thinking. Seizing new opportunities by focussing on social and environmental responsibilities is now the aspiration of many leading business organisations in both the private and public sector. The current challenge is to contribute to a triple bottom line consisting of economical, environmental and societal impacts. This ensures that all aspects of business operations are rendered transparent and accountable to both internal and external stakeholders and deliver short and long term benefits to the organisation. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) provides an approach and framework allowing business to assess profitability against this triple bottom line. Addressing the business’s core objectives, strategies and policies in order to ensure the business’ ethics are effectively codified and communicated is a critical area which can underpin great success. Ensuring that core business operations and resources are focused on building a sustainable and healthy return on investment can improve the quality of service delivery, boost client satisfaction, and secure stakeholder interests. NQC has a strategic partnership with the world renowned Centre for Business Organisations and Society at Bath University which currently runs research projects exploring how business can more effectively benefit local communities and society at large.
